Cascading Organizational Values – Technology Firm

Immersive Learning Journey, Success Story

USING A GAME BASED APPROACH TO CASCADE VALUES IN AN ENGAGING AND EFFECTIVE WAY

The Catalyst is a forerunner in advocating experiential game-based learning programs as one of the most effective and retentive approaches to training.

The Catalyst worked with Quantiphi, an AI and data science software and services company to deliver training on the Quantiphi Q-Smart Etiquette – a framework that defines the core beliefs and values at Quantiphi. The approach adopted in delivering this program was to deconstruct the Quantiphi Q-SMART values in a game based ‘Corporate Treasure Hunt’ activity, that was designed to elicit engagement, learning and retention as the game progressed.

Business Need:

Quantiphi required this program to sensitize new recruits and reinvigorate the existing employees to the Q-SMART values. The client expectation was for the employees to internalize the SMART Etiquette and values and manifest the learning in the workspace. This program was designed to be delivered to employees across various business roles in multiple batches of online and offline training programs.

Diagnostic conducted:

The Catalyst conducted stakeholder calls with key persons in the client organization to understand the program needs in great detail which enabled Catalyst to customize and curate the program content.

Program Design:

The Catalyst team conceptualized an over-arching CORPORATE TREASURE HUNT game that was customized and curated to weave in the SMART etiquette framework as 5 stages of learning. The main objective of the Corporate Treasure Hunt was to engage, involve and enable learning in teams in an enjoyable competitive environment.

The Q -SMART etiquettes were deconstructed as 5 stages of learning activities. Active learning techniques such as quizzes, roleplays, team activities, puzzles and video case studies were incorporated at different learning stages to introduce challenges to teams. Participants grouped in teams were required to earn points by engaging in the activity introduced at that stage. A score card was maintained to keep the challenge live and competitive. The team that earned maximum points across all the 5 stages was awarded the winning team.

The participants enjoyed the competition, challenges, involvement and fun in all team activities through the session. The activities were instrumental in reiterating Q SMART Etiquettes that are core to Quantiphi. The learning take-aways were tangible and retentive.

Program Delivery:

The team at Catalyst handpicked qualified senior trainers and conducted Train the Trainer programs and teach back sessions to ensure the trainers were completely hands on and equipped to handle the program content and were prepared to deliver the program across locations and platforms in a seamless manner.

Feedback:

The feedback for the program was very positive and after the successful completion of the pilot, it is now being run for all 1000 employees of the client organization.

“It’s play that makes us do serious stuff better”. That’s the philosophy on which Priti has founded The Catalyst.

Priti’s sales stint at Unilever in her initial corporate stint and her strategy consulting role at Accenture allowed her to have a deep perspective of how businesses run and she combined this with her entrepreneurial dream of running an immersive learning venture to start The Catalyst in 2009.
