The Catalyst recently partnered with a well known FMCG major to run an extensive learning journey focussed on enhancing leadership communication, presentation ability and assertiveness of the key talent of its manufacturing units based in NCR.
Business Problem :
To enable the top performers of the manufacturing unit improve their productivity and effectiveness in their current roles through improved communication skills and prepare them to take up higher roles by developing leadership communication, influencing and assertiveness as honed skills.
Diagnostic conducted :
The Catalyst designed and rolled out an extensive supervisor feedback survey covering questions under the broad heads of communication, listening, Influencing and assertiveness to the managers of the respective employees who would comprise the participant group for the learning journey. In addition we also conducted assessments with the participant group as part of the pre-work to guage their current levels of understanding of the learning topics. Both these tools along with extensive stakeholder calls helped us gain deep insights into the AS-IS behaviour levels of the participants on the outlined competencies and this further helped The Catalyst design a tailor made and impactful learning journey for all the participants.
Program Design :
The program design involved two major capsule modules spread over two days on key topics including communication structuring, key aspects of verbal and non-verbal communication with particular emphasis on presentation skills, communication styles, influencing strategies and assertiveness. These two days of training were interspersed with pre-post assessment quizzes to guage participant understanding, peer learning sessions and live projects to help them apply their learnings at work, connect calls to provide on job handholding in implementing their action plans and finally closing the journey with a repeat of the manager feedback survey on the said competencies to clearly capture needle movement for each participant.
Through this scientific approach to program design we were able to achieve Level 3 of the Kirk Patrick model of evaluation and currently engaged in evaluating Level 4 with support from the organization to clearly link the improved behaviours to the individual and business performance.
Outcome :
The program has received magnificent feedback from employees and their supervisors alike. It is now getting replicated with other function groups as the client wants to engage with us to use this format for creating more business impact through similar learning journeys going forward.
